Te Iwi o Ngāti Rehua

Ngāti Rehua are the mana whenua, mana moana, mana tangata of Aotea, Hauturu, the Mokohinau Islands and all other outlying islands and rocky outcrops in the region. Ngāti Rehua have maintained continuous, undisturbed occupation of these areas and continue traditional/tikanga practices such as kaitiakitanga, whanaungatanga and manaakitanga.

We are taking registrations now

If you would like to register as a beneficiary of Ngāti Rehua-Ngātiwai ki Aotea Trust, this is done via election services. To be eligible to register as a beneficiary you must have a direct whakapapa link to one of three ancestors. These are: Rehua (the son of Mataahu and Te Kura), Te Awe (son of Te Whaiti) or Ranginui (son of Hikihiki). Whakapapa will be validated by our Whakapapa Validation Committee, which meets peridoically throughout the year.
